Hello Hovercrafters,

After many years of serving our hovercraft community I'm sorry to inform everyone that this website will be closing on May 1. Please feel free to use the remaining time available to take good notes on any provided information that you might find useful.

The ever decreasing level of interactivity and interest at the site is not fair to me as the Site Manager, or to members who have taken the time to share their experience by creating articles - with very little or no response for their efforts. I apologize to those of you who still visit the site from time to time, but I feel that this is unfortunately the most reasonable choice to make.

Over the years we've had the honor of having many great members who have contributed their advice, knowledge, and financial support, to help make this site the useful resource that it once was. To those of you who made the effort - it is very much appreciated! To others who were inspired by these members, and our site, I hope you've achieved your hovercrafting goals and can find a way to pass on the wisdom you've gained to future generations who might also enjoy our unique hobby.

It has been my pleasure to serve you as your Hovercrafter Site Manager.

Guy Fichtelman

Sad news indeed. I do use this site as an inspiration when energies are flagging & I've learnt a lot over the years. I actually check it nearly every day. I regret not signing in more often & saying so. I do understand, there are a lot of empty projects on here, people making an enthusiastic start then losing interest or Life, getting in the way again.
I do hope you change your mind Guy but, all the best to you & yours & thanks for this site, I do appreciate all the work you have invested in it. Will we be able to catch up on your work on Hydra anywhere? I hope so.
all the best mate....regards Eric

Thanks Eric! I'm working on painting the craft now. Not sure if I'll have it complete before May 1 or not. Hope so! I can always send you an update through Facebook.

Hi Guy,

Admittedly, I am one of those who has lurked on the site for quite some time without contributing comments or articles of my own. I started a UH14 build a few years ago and am still in the process. I have benefitted greatly from the site and figured when I had something helpful to contribute, I would. I regret not contributing in the past, but, I rarely find time to work on the craft, so it goes in short bursts here and there. The rest of the time, I occasionally come here to live vicariously through others who manage to make the time to work on - and post about - their crafts. I suspect there are a lot of us out here who come check in, even though we have neglected to contribute.

It sounds like you have hit the point where the effort to run the site is no longer rewarding, so perhaps it is too late for an offer of support. That said, if it is primarily a monetary decision, perhaps a call for additional funds would be fruitful? I would absolutely contribute additional money to keep this great resource around - even if I don't use it as frequently as I'd like. Summer is coming up - with the warmer temps, I suspect many of us will be mixing more batches of epoxy soon. It would be a shame to shut down the site now :)

Whether the site continues or has run its course, thank you for all of the work you have done to give us a place to learn and to get inspiration for a build. I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Best,
-Mike
